MIAMI, FL (January 14, 2020) - REEF Technology and REEF Neighborhood Kitchens announced today a $1 million restaurant development program in multiple U.S. cities, beginning with its hometown of Miami. The NBRHD Restaurant Development Program is designed to support local restaurants by helping to scale their delivery business and provide marketing support through REEF’s Neighborhood Kitchens platform. The first city program will be made available to qualifying local restaurateurs in Miami with additional U.S. cities to follow in 2021.
Initially, the NBRHD Restaurant Development Program will be open to Miami-based restaurants with fewer than three locations. REEF encourages applications from local women and Black, Indigenous and people of color (BIPOC) owned restaurants, however, this is not a mandatory criteria.
Over the next few months, 10 recipients will be selected by a panel of highly-regarded local personalities in the culinary space, including notable Miami chefs Michelle Bernstein and Michael Schwartz and Kiko Suarez from Kiko Hospitality Group. Final recipients will be identified based on the strength of their culinary concept, potential for success on delivery platforms, community following and personal story.
“Historically, restaurants run on extremely tight profit margins and we recognize that local businesses struggle to access industry resources of this caliber,” said Alan Phillips, Chief Creative Officer of REEF. “Our NBRHD Restaurant Development Program fills that gap and is engineered to help our beloved local brands adapt, sustainably grow their business and reach new customers without upfront capital costs. We’re thrilled to continue to support the businesses who are the backbone and heart of our communities.”
"I've personally loved working with REEF Neighborhood Kitchens over the last year," said Chef Michael Schwartz. "I have creative autonomy over my menus and it's an incredible way to scale thoughtfully. This program is great for the Miami restaurant community.”
REEF Neighborhood Kitchens is currently a national delivery-only network of 100+ neighborhood kitchens across 20+ cities. Locally-owned restaurants and notable Miami chefs who partner with REEF include Chef Michael Schwartz of Genuine Hospitality, Chef Michelle Bernstein, Della Bowls and Ms Cheezious.
