In 2013, our founders launched a technology business to make better use of parking lots. It evolved into a company that uses lots to make better cities.
More than half of North America’s downtown real estate is used for cars. But what if these landscapes were transformed to serve city residents in a convenient, creative and meaningful way?
In 2019 the company changed its name to REEF and went on to become the largest operator of parking real estate and delivery kitchens in North America. REEF Kitchens help restaurant entrepreneurs grow their businesses and serve thousands of new customers by providing turnkey solutions for the preparation, distribution and expansion of delicious food concepts.
Unlike other virtual restaurant models, cooks at REEF Kitchens locations are full-time members of REEF’s global culinary team and receive industry-leading wages and benefits.
REEF only succeeds when its partners do. Restaurants receive a percentage of every sale while REEF covers operational costs, including marketing.
Initial Review – REEF meets with each restaurant’s team to review its concept and determine if it’s a good match.
Refinement – REEF’s world-class culinary and operations team works with the restaurant to achieve the best presentation of their brand and product through delivery and pickup.
REEF collaborates with the restaurant to launch and pilot the concept.
Once the recipe’s been perfected, the concept is rolled out to new neighborhoods and cities.
$1.25M pledged to help more than 100 local restaurants scale and expand their delivery business through REEF’s REEF Restaurant Development Program.
REEF worked with the City of Santa Monica and other community stakeholders on the creation of a Zero Emissions Delivery Zone to reduce congestion and carbon emissions.
By teaming up with Chicago Cook Workforce Partnership, Detroit at Work, and Strive.org, REEF is hiring hundreds of people and providing access to economic opportunities.
REEF’s pilot programs with e-cargo bikes were estimated to remove 101,000kg of CO2e annually and will be expanded to neighborhoods around the country.
